PAST/BIO: Rae is the daughter of Ianto Jones and Captain Jack Harkness. Yes, she shares both of their DNA. How this happened precisely is as yet unknown, but Rae was born to them in December of 2011.

As Ianto and Jack were never truly a 'couple', and Torchwood Cardiff tended to be an extremely volatile place, Rae spent most of her formative years in London, raised by Martha Jones, a 'family' friend. When she did have time with her fathers Ianto dotted on her, proving his great well of love. Jack, however, was never quite sure what to do with her. Still, he decided that as she got older she would be taught how to defend herself. And so Rae was groomed to be a soldier.

It wasn't until Rae was nearly sixteen that they noticed the speed with which she healed. She broke her arm in training, and it healed back to perfection in just under three hours. But her likeness to Jack didn't stop there. Only a year later she learned that if she kissed someone, she could pass her healing ability to them for the duration of the kiss. That's the extent of their knowledge, as no one wanted to experiment any farther.

When Rae turned twenty-one, Jack finally allowed her to join Torchwood Three, against all of Ianto's wishes. The Captain knew she could hold her own, and would be an important part of the team as a weapons specialist. Her knowledge of alien weaponry was surpassed only by Jack, and then barely. For the next two years she worked side by side with those she had always considered family.

But one day, when she was twenty-three, she was testing a new weapon when the something happened to the rift. With only Jack as witness, she was pulled in by a mysterious man and deposited in 2008 Cardiff.
